Our service includes health visitors, school nurses, staff nurses, community nursery nurses and healthcare support workers.

Health visitors and school nurses are trained specialist community public health nurses (SCPHN) who are qualified nurses or midwives that have done further training at an advanced level.

The specialist training equips us to work with children, young people, parents, carers and families, to assess health needs, promote good health and prevent illness. Health visitors are trained to work with under 5s and their families, whilst the school nurse qualification is for those of school age.

We have a wide range of health knowledge and skills to help achieve better lives and healthy futures, working with other professionals and organisations to provide support and information that you and your family need.

All health visitors, nurses and midwives are registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), and every three years we are required to show that we have continued to work in nursing, completed more training, have reflected on our practice, and acted on any feedback to ensure that we are safe and competent in our roles.

Our services are commissioned and paid for by the local authority and we work closely with other services and organisations to deliver care.
