How safe are your blinds?

Child pulling blind cord

Millions of households in the UK have blinds manufactured before 2014 which may not have child safety devices. If your home has old blinds it’s important to know how to make them safe as, sadly, the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (ROSPA) reports that at least 33 children have died in the UK since 2001 due to looped blind cords.

The Government’s Office for Product Safety and Standards has a useful leaflet with simple steps you can take to keep cords out of reach of babies and children as well as links to other useful sources of information and advice.
