A Nursery Nurse from Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust has been named Nursery Nurse of the Year at the Community Practitioners and Health Visitors Association (CPHVA) awards.

The CPHVA awards are an annual celebration of community health workers and nurses.

Michelle Broady, Children’s Services Volunteer Coordinator at the Care Trust, won the award after a colleague nominated her for the leadership and courage she shows in her role.

Pamela Shaw, Lead Nurse for Workforce Resilience, said: “Michelle has embraced her role and goes above and beyond to ensure volunteers feel supported. She creates a sense of belonging and always has a cheerful personality and can-do attitude.

“She has played a key role in introducing volunteers to the service so that they can offer their help in innovative ways, without adding extra pressure to staff. Thanks to her work, there is better access to volunteering and the service can do more for the families they work with.”

Volunteers at the Care Trust can take on a variety of roles, working directly with services to enhance them so that staff can go the extra mile for their patients.

Michelle said: “I feel incredibly honoured to have won this award and I would like to thank Pamela for nominating me. Taking on the volunteer coordinator role has enabled me to combine my passion for volunteers and volunteering, whilst staying true to my nursery nursing roots. I always want to do the best for our families and our volunteers are such a valuable resource that we can use to do more in the services we offer.”
